Especially this time of year, it seems as if everyone is looking for donations to their charity. How do you know where your hard earned dollars are going? My good friend and Chiropractor Dr. Carol Antonino, told me about a website called Charity Navigator that rates charities based on financial evaluations of over 5,300 of the nations largest charities.
The site provides tips on charitable giving and the questions you should ask. If you go to the site and your favorite charity is not on there, there are tips for evaluating your charity. Don't you want to know how much of the money you give actually helps the cause you are giving to?

By the way, Dr. Carol Antonino is having her Annual Gift Drive to benefit the Atlanta Union Mission, a 4 star top rated charity during the week of December 8th through the 13th. She is asking that people bring a new, unwrapped item for their Drive. To show her appreciation, you will receive a free adjustment or credit on your account. The AUM serves men, women and children of all ages, so donations may include clothing, toys, toiletries, books, housewares, etc. Her office is at 4300 Pleasant Hill Road, Suite B, Duluth, GA Phone: 770.623.3050. So bring in a gift and give yourself the gift of good health at the same time!

Hi Jen,
Thanks for putting this tool out, I'll be curious to check out some of my favorite charities.
One thing we try to focus on is local concerns. I'm involved with Meals on Wheels in our local area. Very well run, low to no overhead, but produces a consistant quality product for seniors and folks who may be house bound.
I figure by donating time and money to a local group, you really have a chance to evaluate the organzation and how they spend their resources,
regards,
Rob Kelly
I have a list of twelve charities and non-profits that I donate to, a different one each month. They all continue to check out well as far as amount of money that actually goes to help rather than paying salaries and other overhead expenses.
Great reference for us to use to vet charities. Let your readers also know about Charity Checks. This is a great service that allows you too encourage giving. Put the 2 together and you have a great way to manage planned giving. www.CharityChecks.us
Keep in mind your local arts organizations, too -- symphonies, operas, etc. They always are needing financial help.
Jen, thanks for the information and what a great tool to check out charities we are interested in.
Hey, Jen. Jim just posted about various sites that give back throughout the year for soldiers, women, and children. Check it out.
