It's official. I have become a re-run on HGTV. 2 years ago we started filming a show called My First Place. It's a show about First Time Home Buyers and the drama that can go along with it. The show filmed me and my business partner Tracy Haskins with a couple that was buying their first home. Filming took more than 40 long hours condensed into a show that is just 22 minutes without commercials. What you don't see is that we were filming at midnight on a couple of occasions to try to coordinate with everyone's schedules. The camera also doesn't show that it was so cold out but we didn't wear coats because we knew it would first air in the springtime and wanted it to seem as if it could be any season. So now the secret is out. There's a lot that goes into TV shows. As for me, I'd rather stick to working with home buyers and home sellers and leave the TV stuff to Hollywood.
The show is coming up again next week on HGTV. It will be aired on November 26 at 9:30 p.m. and November 27 at 1:30 a.m. EST. This is the link to HGTV: Couple Wages Bidding War

Jen...although you now know that Hollywood is not for you..what an awesome experience!
That is awesome, Jen. I will have to watch to see if I see you. Thanks for sharing, Jim
Jen, is there a residual fee each time it airs?..Or is it just good P.R. that HGTV promised?
Cool. I will have to check that out. Looks like you have gone Hollywood on us all !
Re-runs! Awesome! Congrats.
Aloha,
Keahi
Jen congratulations on the repeat performance.
Congratulations, Jen! I just added it to my TiVo schedule for next week! :-)
I love that show. I watch it all the time, I'll be sure to look for your episode.
They contacted me when I was in Denver and I didn't have anyone at that time that their criteria. I think it would have been a lot of fun to do once.
Thank you all! Steve, if I got a residual fee each time it aired that would be awesome. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. I guess I'm just not "Hollywood" enough. :)
Michael, The Denver show was filmed right before us. I sent HGTV more than 10 of my first time home buyers. Most didn't make it through HGTV's screening process.
What an awesome experience! Congratulations - I look forward to seeing you in action :)
I love HGTV and I will look for your show. It must have been exciting to have gotten picked for the show.
How awesome of an experience! Congratulations! I'll be watching for it.
:)
I am going to mark my calendar and watch! I always wonder how they pick the agents....how did you get connected to them?
I have also put it on my TIVO schedule. Very cool.
Very cool! I am so glad you wrote about your show and I hope I catch it!
CONGRATULATIONS, Darling!! I'll have to go check YOU out! GBU~
Hi Jen, How cool. I enjoy watching that show. I look forward to watching your episode!
You little movie star you! I'll be sure to tune in for sure! How exciting....40 hours for 22 minutes? OUCH!
Yeah! That's cool! I will set my DVR!
How fun, I'll be sure to watch for that episode!
Kim, RE/MAX EXCEL
Cool! Is that couple still doing ok in their first home? I'll be sure to set the TIVO too.
Congrats Jen. Seems like you made the sacrifices necessary for a good program.
Jen, I love HGTV! I'll have to watch this one!
WTG, Jen. Now at least you won't harbor any thought of, "Gee, if I only could have tried the stage, movies, or TV." I recently emailed a question to an NPR program, All Things Considered. They contacted me and asked me to record my question in advance. Ok. When that was done, he said I was too long, would I mind doing it again. Well, how do you sound fresh the second time? I just don't know how people can re-do their scenes over and over again. Or put on a play, night after night, after night. Bully for them. But, it's a good thing we're in real estate!
Will keep an eye out for it ! There are a couple of local people here in Philly that have been on HGTV as well. Is cool ! Congrats : )
Jen, I'm a big fan of HGTV and My First Place. I'm happy I saw this before it aired! Too, cool!
Congratulations Jen, I look forward to watching it. Be careful though you'll be too busy signing autographs before to long.
HI JEN!
This is so cool! I'll be certain to check it out. You're a superstar!!
Congratulations Jen. That's so cool. Also a good reminder that there always more to every job when you get behind the scenes, especially real estate.
Pat, you were asking how I got connected with HGTV: I saw something about it online and contacted the producer. It's just like working in real estate or any kind of good business, follow up was key. I stayed in touch with the people in charge. I let everyone know that I was looking for first time buyers to do the show with.
The interesting thing I thought was that there were no "do-overs" or take 2 or take 3. They were filming as the phone calls and negotiating were really happening. That's not stressful! :)
Thank you everyone for your kind words!
Jen - That is some great news and now your becoming a star, the Activerain community featured you post and now I have featured it at Late Evening - Early morning at Activerain, great job!
Congratulations, just 22 minutes out of a weeks work. LOL I will be sure to try and watch it, I like HGTV especially Designed to Sell.

Wow, Jen. You are the second person I know who has been on a HGTV program. A REALTOR friend of mine was on an episode of House Hunters. I will have to watch your episode.

Wow, congratulations to you. Being famous!!! Should add to the portfolio at the very least and help you with other sellers too.
