Free Dr. Pepper

Dr Pepper is apparently making good on a promise that they would give a free soda to everyone in America if Guns N' Roses album "Chinese Democracy" was released in 2008.  It began recording 14 years ago in 1994. The band is no longer together but the album goes on sale on Sunday, just in time for Holiday shopping.  That's a good marketing strategy.

Beginning Sunday November 23 at 12:01 a.m., coupons for a free 20-ounce soda will be available for 24 hours on Dr Pepper's Web site. They'll be honored until Feb. 28, 2009 . www.DrPepper.com

What an interesting topic to blog about. Yet free is always a good price. Thanks for posting.

Jen - Free Dr. Pepper. I can't believe that it took Guns N' Roses so long to release an album. I'll still take the free drink.

I knew nothing about that, perhaps because I don't drink soft drinks. It seems with boxed sets and digital downloading, many artists are taking longer and longer between albums. I remember when some groups, like The Beatles and Jethro Tull, used to release an album every year, sometimes even two, like one in January and one in December. With apologies to Mary Hopkin, "Those were the days."

Jen, my husband was so excited by this news. He got online and tried to register for his free DP and the web site was all messed up. He tried and tried again. Then he started to get upset, frustrated, and a little mad.

I teased him and asked if he wanted his "money back?" He scoffed and finally I asked if a free soda was really worth the rise in blood pressure? He never did get one ... maybe I'll buy one for him to cheer him up. I shouldn't laugh, but it was pretty funny :-)~
